May – Nature awakens
With the arrival of spring, Elba becomes a paradise for trekking lovers and outdoor activities. The Walking Festival offers guided excursions through scenic trails, woods and ancient villages, while the Napoleonic May celebrates Napoleon’s stay with historical reenactments, guided tours and cultural events in Portoferraio.
June – The first summer evenings
The squares begin to come alive with evening markets, live music, shows and stands dedicated to local crafts. It’s the ideal time to stroll through the charming historic centers and discover the typical flavors of Elba.
July – Summer gets into full swing
On July 14th, one of the island’s most evocative events takes place: the Legend of the Innamorata in Capoliveri. A romantic historical reenactment with costumed processions, torches, shows and an extraordinary fireworks display over the sea.
Throughout the month there are also concerts, music festivals and cultural events that enliven summer evenings in numerous towns across the island.
August – Traditions and fun
August is the month of great popular festivals. The squares host festivals dedicated to typical products, fish festivals, local wine tastings, concerts and spectacular fireworks.
Among the most beloved events are the Feast of Santa Chiara in Marciana Marina and the numerous gastronomic celebrations organized in the island’s villages.
September – Sports and major events
With temperatures still perfect for the sea, September is the ideal month to experience Elba in complete tranquility. Sports enthusiasts can attend the Elbaman, one of Europe’s most prestigious triathlons, while music lovers can be moved by the concerts of Elba Musical Island of Europe, an international festival that brings world-renowned artists to the island’s most fascinating locations.
October – Autumn flavors
Autumn brings one of the most anticipated events of the year: the famous Grape Festival of Capoliveri. The village streets transform into a great open-air theater with scenery, period costumes, wine, typical products and shows.
During the same period, the Historic Elba Rally also takes place, attracting enthusiasts from all over Europe, and the traditional Chestnut Roasts, perfect for discovering the island’s most authentic side with roasted chestnuts, typical sweets and folk music.
